Five Q is looking for an experienced Software Developer to work as a Contractor on our Python/Django projects. Our developers work on small to large, CMS-centric websites. This position focuses mostly on the “backend” code, although experience with “frontend” technology is required. Technologies we use on a daily basis include Python, Django, Linux (mostly CentOS and Ubuntu), MySQL, PostgreSQL, memcached, celery, nginx, Apache, gunicorn, jQuery, and Haystack/SOLR. We also use GeoDjango, Wowza, Amazon EC2, jQuery Mobile, and other top-notch tools. Our primary source control system is git, although svn, bzr, and hg are not uncommon. Our developers use Mac OS X and Linux.

The immediate opportunity is for a project that will be 30-40 hours per week, for 3 months, beginning as soon as possible. If the work is a good fit for both of us, then a longer-term contract is a possibility at the conclusion of the 3 months. There may also be potential for a future full time permanent position as well.

The initial project is for a client with a worldwide ministry presence. This client has a complex codebase, so you will find the work both challenging and rewarding. You will be collaborating on a team with a Software Architect, another Django Dev, and an Account Manager.

This position reports to the Web & Mobile Director.

Software Developer tasks include, but are not limited to: * Develop new Python/Django code, with a proficiency in Linux, MySQL/PostgreSQL, HTML5, CSS, SSH, and JavaScript. Experience with Agile development is a plus. * Help maintain, grow and improve existing codebases. * Occasionally maintain existing PHP code. * Interact with clients to gather requirements and create estimates. * Document processes and procedures as needed.

We expect our contractors to work all hours assigned per week. We use Harvest (getharvest.com) to track our time.

Skills Required: * Demonstrated ability to develop interactive, database-driven websites with Django. * 2 to 3 years of experience in computer programming. * Experience with other programming languages and frameworks is a plus. * Experience in marketing, ministries, non-profits, or business is a plus. * Each candidate will be required to complete a Django programming test to make sure that your skills meet our project needs.
