Departmental Overview

Our award winning team is seeking a f ull stack developer for the Web and Digital Solutions group at University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR). This role involves a full range of online application development to advance the goals of UDAR and campus-wide development partners. This includes online giving applications, alumni engagement web services, CMS (wagtail) and mobile development, and enterprise email marketing applications. The candidate writes standards-compliant code using industry best practices with particular focus on the following programming languages: Python, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Bash, YAML. This role employs SDLC best practices from design-to-production including quality assurance, maintenance and documentation of applications.

Position Overview

Experienced professional who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field; independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; possesses broad job knowledge; analyzes problems / issues of diverse scope and determines solutions.

Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced software professional with a full understanding of industry practices, community standards and relevant policies and procedures to medium-sized projects or portions of large projects with moderate scope and complexity. Resolves a wide range of issues. Demonstrates competency in selecting tools, methods and techniques to obtain results.

Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Uses well-established applications programming concepts to develop complex web applications, deploy and maintain web properties in support of Marketing Communications, Annual Giving, Gift Planning, External Relations, and Donor Stewardship as well as support for the schools, colleges and campus development offices. This includes web applications such as Give to Berkeley, Salesforce Marketing Cloud client applications and the mailto:@Cal Alumni Network. May also consult on the development of other campus web applications and perform other duties as assigned.

This position will extend, maintain and support data driven web applications written in Python/Django. Works from existing Postgres databases, REST APIs and Redis message queues to ensure accurate and efficient handling of data. As needs arise, extends, maintains and supports the web application front-end written in Django forms (Python/HTML), Javascript and CSS. The developer will commit code in Git, deploy it via CI/CD scripted process to a Linux/Apache hosted environment.

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Hiring range is $85,000 - $100,000/annually, commensurate with experience.
